Juana Palop
Juana was born in Canals (Valencia, 1982) and studied saxophone in Castellón, Valencia, Paris and Amsterdam, where she finished her Master Degree with “Honours” in the renowned class of Arno Bornkamp.
She is dedicated to music and saxophone for more than 20 years now, getting good advises from great musicians such as David Alonso, Jean-Denis Michat, Claude Delangle, MB Charrier, Jean- Marie Londeix, Pedro Iturralde, Vincent David, Walter van Hawe, among others.
Winner of several prices in Spain and abroad, Juani has been invited to play in countries like Holland, France, Germany, Colombia, Russia, Japan or China.
Demanded in orchestras, she has worked with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and Teatro Real, JONDE, JOSC, JM World Orchestra, NJO, Musicaeterna, Radio Filarmonish Orkest, and Vrije-Universiteit Orkest Amsterdam, with conductors such as Gunter Schüller, Eliahú Inbal, Pablo Heras-Casado, Arturo Tamayo, Josep Vicent, Teodor Currentzis or Edo de Waart.
Very interested in chamber music, she has been playing with pianist Juan Carlos Cornelles for more than 10 years, and is member of Zavasax saxophone duo and Barcelona Reed Quintet. She is also co-director of Alcosax Project: a saxophone summer course & festival that has already celebrated the 6th edition.
Since 2010 Juana Palop works in the Barcelona Wind Orchestra.
